This is done by combining Norway’s expertise in governance and technology development within the oil, natural gas and electricity sectors, with France’s leading energy technology knowledge. Programme content
The Executive Master of Management in Energy lasts for 18 months, including four one-week modules and one two-weeks-module. This structure allows you to undertake executive studies while continuing to work full time.
Energy core courses respond to the significant changes in the industry due to growing demand for energy, sustainable development and green transition across the world. Courses also focus on specific skills in energy fundamentals, technologies, industries and markets, policies and strategies, addressing the challenges of investments and technological solutions.
Through the programme, you will profit from interactive learning processes and discussions on campus and online. You will also participate in a consultancy project, a practical team work exploring real-life business challenges. The project work is supervised by a professor as well as a representative from the company you are analysing.

Grounded in key frameworks like the SDGs, the EU Green Deal, and the Paris Agreement, you'll gain the tools to embed sustainability into the core of your business—and drive impact where it matters most.
Financial Decision Making in Energy Projects
Make smarter financial decisions in a complex and fast-evolving energy landscape. This course gives you advanced tools to assess profitability, evaluate investments, and align financial choices with strategic goals. You'll gain hands-on experience in navigating risk, uncovering value, and challenging conventional financial models—so you can lead with confidence, clarity, and impact.

The Gas & Power Business
Navigate the complexities of today’s gas and electricity sectors with confidence. This course unpacks the forces reshaping the industry—from deregulation and market liberalisation to climate policy and technological change. You'll gain strategic and operational insight into production, distribution, and trading, while developing the skills to lead in a fast-moving, highly regulated, and sustainability-focused energy environment.
Governance of Complex Energy Projects
Delivering large-scale energy projects requires more than technical expertise—it demands strategic vision, strong governance, and stakeholder alignment. This course equips you with practical tools to plan, manage, and oversee complex projects from the owner’s perspective, with a focus on sustainability, digitalisation, and global collaboration. Learn to lead capital-intensive initiatives that create lasting value in an increasingly dynamic energy landscape.

Climate Policy and Low-Carbon Technologies

Through real-world cases, you'll gain the insight and tools to navigate carbon pricing, renewable energy, and net-zero strategies—while assessing the wider impact of decarbonisation on markets, industries, and society.

Supply Chain and Operations Management
Power smarter operations across the energy value chain. This course gives you the tools to tackle complex supply chain challenges—from efficiency and cost control to sustainability and digital innovation. Learn how to design resilient systems, manage risk, and optimise performance as you navigate the shifting demands of the global energy transition.
Negotiation, Change, and International Aspects of the Green Transition
Lead change where it matters most. This course builds the skills to navigate complex international negotiations, drive sustainable transformation, and lead diverse teams through the challenges of the green transition. With a focus on influence, adaptability, and coaching leadership, you'll gain the tools to make a meaningful impact in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
Module 5 courses continue online until 31 August with a weekly calendar of asynchronous and synchronous (webinars) teaching and learning activities and group work. Participants are expected to dedicate an average of 10 hrs a week to the programme.

For the students who don't have the opportunity to travel to Oslo and/or Paris, these modules will be offered as a hybrid (live on-campus and online). All teaching in the programme has mandatory attendance, both online and by physical presence. If a student is missing more than 25% of a course, retake is necessary.

Who is the programme for?
The truly international, cross-cultural learning environment provides excellent network opportunities. The programme gathers professionals already familiar with the industry, as well as those aspiring to work in the energy field. Your fellow students will represent a wide range of industries and academic backgrounds.
Classes typically have more than 15-20 nationalities represented, and the average age is normally around 37 with 12 years of full-time work experience. Previous students worked for companies such as Aker Solutions, ABB, Conoco Philips, DNV GL, EDF, Engie, Halliburton, McKinsey, REC, Schlumberger, Shell, Siemens, Equinor and Total. And many more, including ministries, regulators, defence and other public authorities.

The school has large teams of researchers within economics, business administration and marketing.
BI Norwegian Business School is the only Norwegian business school that has received the three most prestigious international accreditations – also known as ”triple crown”: EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB.
This provides a synergy between training, research and innovation. From research to industry, technological innovation is at the heart of the IFPEN group activities. In 2005, the Nobel prize in Chemistry was awarded to Yves Chauvin, Research Director at IFP Energies nouvelles. Practical information
The programme starts 9 March 2026.
Qualifying applicants are invited for an interview. The admissions committee places particulare emphasis on each applicant`s academic qualifications, motivation, professional experience and maturity.
Offers of admission will be made based on availability of seats in the programme.
BI offers scholarships for exceptional candidates joining the Executive Master of Management in Energy. Females and employees in non-governmental organizations are encouraged to apply.
For the BI Scholarship the application deadline is 1 December and offers will be sent to selected candidates by 6 weeks before the start-up of the programme.
The programme has a duration of 18 months. It’s a part time programme intended for participants in full time positions.
The programme follows a blended model so it allows great flexibility. It requires you to be away from work only during the modules and webinars, as the online part of the courses has a great component of asynchronous activities.
The Executive Master of Management in Energy is intense and demands commitment. Admission requirements are stringent to ensure that all participants are qualified.
The tuition fee is NOK 420 000 (divided into three installments).
The tuition fee does not include literature and travel expenses (flights and accommodation).
As this is a part time programme, you can only apply for a tourist visa. If you are eligible for financial support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, the EMME is a supported programme.
