Norwegian classes

When moving to a new country, a million questions arise. This section will help you prepare for and make the most of your stay in Oslo, whether you are seeking a Bachelor or Master's degree, a Double Degree student, or on exchange at BI for a semester or two.

Housing
BI offers a housing guarantee for international students coming to Norway for the first time. Read more about student housing for international students.

Cost of living
Student life in Oslo is more affordable than in many other European cities. You will find student discounts as well for public transportation, cultural events, and more to make your transition to living in Norway easier. To earn money, some students work part-time during their studies. Read our advice on how to maximize your budget.  

Norwegian language courses
BI offers courses for international students on the Norwegian language from the beginner level to the intermediate level. More information will be available to students before Orientation Week begins. 

Study Permit 
You may need a study permit to live in Norway for more than three months. Different rules and procedures apply depending on your citizenship. Read more about study permits for international students.

Academic calendar
The academic year at BI Norwegian Business School is divided in two semesters: autumn and spring. Get an overview of the academic calendar and public holidays.

Grading system
BI Norwegian Business School uses a grading scale based on the ECTS grading scale. A-E are passing grades, F is fail. Read more about the grading system.
