Future African Leader Scholarship
Awarded to applicants with superior academic records admitted to an MSc programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen.
BI Norwegian Business School is a member of the GBSN Network and GMAC’s Study in Europe Initiative as a member the consortium of participating business schools. BI is offering two MSc scholarships to support these initiatives, specifically in Africa.
What is GBSN?
With a growing network of leading business schools on six continents, Global Business School Network aim is to ensure that the developing world has the management talent (leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs) it needs to generate prosperity. This is achieved by fostering cross-border networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration both within the network membership and with the broader business education and development communities.
What is the GMAC Study in Europe Initiative?
A consortium of leading European business schools has banned together to raise the profile of Europe as a study destination for talented business students from Africa. Through online and on campus events organized by GMAC, candidates can learn more about the opportunities in Europe and how the GMAT test can improve their chances for admission.
Scholarship Award
Scholarships will cover full tuition fees for up to two years and a stipend for living expenses of NOK 50,000 per semester, if the student achieves the academic progression requirements.

- Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a GBSN Member School in Africa or candidates with citizenship from an African country who participated in a GMAC Study in Europe event online or in person in Africa.
- Candidates with international citizenship who are not residents of Norway who have a strong academic record.
- Candidates must submit strong GMAT or GRE test scores required for admission.
- Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 4.0 on the ECTS scale to be considered. Applicants with international education will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale by BI Norwegian Business School.
- Candidates admitted to the first year of a Master of Science degree programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen, except for the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.
- Eligible applicants who apply for this scholarship will also be considered for the BI Presidential Scholarship, the MSc International Scholarship, and the Women in Finance and Tech Scholarship, if applicable.
- Only candidates seeking their first master’s degree are considered for Master of Science scholarships.

- Upload your CV/resume and a scholarship application letter. The scholarship application letter should outline why you should be considered for this scholarship (maximum one-page). Combine the documents into one PDF file. Your scholarship application letter must
- 1) identify that you are enrolled at or a graduate of a GBSN member school
- Or
- 2) identify the GMAC Study in Europe event you attended with date and place
The scholarship application letter should outline why you should be considered for this scholarship (maximum one-page). Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
- Upload the documents to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
- Include all the required documentation to be evaluated for admission to a Master of Science programme. The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
- International applicants who apply for the Future African Leader Scholarship will also be considered for other BI sponsored scholarships except for the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Scholarship and the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing Scholarship. A separate scholarship application letter is not required for each scholarship.

BI has a generous scholarship programme for master’s studies. However, the competition for scholarships is great. Each year, the number of scholarship applications received from master’s applicants demonstrating academic excellence is far greater than the number of scholarships available. Note: Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
- BI Norwegian Business School aims to build a diverse and international student body.
- Only applicants who have been admitted to a Master of Science programme and have applied as instructed will be considered.
- Scholarship applications will be considered only if the offer of admission has been accepted.
- BI ensures distribution of scholarships across MSc programmes.
- BI reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities which many include prioritizing specific master’s programmes, diversity and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
- All candidates will be assessed according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor's degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
- Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and special personal achievements.

- Scholarship offers are not sent with offers of admission. You will receive the offer of admission first.
- Applicants must accept the offer of admission while awaiting scholarship decisions.
- Scholarship offers may be sent to selected candidates throughout the admission cycle.
- Scholarship offers must be accepted by the date indicated on the offer. Scholarships not accepted by the deadline will be withdrawn/cancelled and awarded to another candidate.
- All scholarships will be awarded by the end of April with the exception of the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Scholarship and the BI-Luiss Joint Master in Marketing Scholarship which are awarded later in the spring.
- All scholarship applicants, including those not selected, will be informed of the scholarship application decision by the end of April.
Scholarship decisions cannot be appealed.

All candidates must meet academic progression requirements to maintain their scholarship. Detailed requirements are included in the Scholarship Agreement.
- Full study progression (30 ECTS) in each semester.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of a "B" on the BI ECTS scale after completion of each academic semester.
- Candidates who are awarded the MSc International Scholarship must be prepared to be "BI Ambassadors", acting as spokespeople, assisting in recruitment efforts, and promoting a good study environment. Scholarship recipients will be informed about responsibilities during the academic year.
Please note:
- You may apply for more than one scholarship; however, BI Norwegian Business School will award only one scholarship per applicant.
- Awarded scholarships are tied to a specific academic programme at a designated campus and cannot be transferred.
- International candidates who are eligible for tuition fee reduction and/or a student loan in Norway from Lånekassen (eg. 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree from a Norwegian educational institution) are considered as domestic applicants for scholarship purposes.
- Only candidates seeking their first master’s degree are considered for Master of Science scholarships.
Only candidates admitted to a Master of Science programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen commencing Autumn 2025 will be considered for this scholarship.
