Withdrawal

You may withdraw from a programme or a course of study either before or after you have started. You have the right to withdraw under the Right of Withdrawal Act for 14 days from the day you sign your study contract.

Applications to withdraw, go on academic leave, or postpone your studies must be provided in writing to the campus and BI must then confirm in writing that the application has been received. The applicant bears the responsibility for documenting that an application for withdrawal, leave or postponed start of studies is submitted within the provided deadlines.

General withdrawal deadlines

The following deadlines generally apply for full-time and part-time programmes without incurring financial penalty:

  • 1 August: Deadline for withdrawal for the fall semester
  • 15 January: Deadline for withdrawal for the spring semester

Other deadlines may apply. See your study contract for more information.

Financial penalty for late withdrawals

  • 2 August to 15 August:
    NOK 3.000,- for full-time studies, 2.000,- for part-time studies.
  • 16 August to 1 September:
    NOK 5.000,- for full-time studies, 3.000,- for part-time studies.
  • 2 September to 1 October:
    50% of tuition for the semester.
  • 2 October and after:
    Tuition fees in full are due.

 

*Exemptions from the Financial Penalty Schedule for Late Withdrawals

Single course:

  • The deadline for withdrawal without financial penalty:
    Two weeks prior to study start.

Bachelor of Management (programmes and Leadership in Action):

  • The deadline for withdrawal without financial penalty:
    Two weeks prior to study start.

Executive Master of Management (programmes):

  • The deadline for withdrawal without financial penalty:
    Three weeks prior to study start
  • Withdrawal after the deadline, but prior to study start:
    NOK 3.000,- (unless otherwise stated in the study contract)

Executive MBA and Executive Master of Management in Energy:

  • Separate deadlines. Please refer to your study contract.

PHD:

  • Separate deadlines. Please refer to your study contract.

 

The deadline for withdrawals is always provided within your study contract.
