In 2023, BI Norwegian Business School celebrated its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades since its founding in 1943.
In line with founder Finn Øien’s original vision, the BI80 celebrations delivered significant societal impact through engaging events, increased scholarship funding, and strengthened partnerships with alumni and the business community.
At the time of its 80th anniversary, BI was recognized as a leading European business school. With more than 245,000 alumni, it remained among the most influential contributors shaping business and society in Norway. Throughout the year, BI celebrated its proud heritage while laying the foundation for continued excellence in research and education for decades to come.
The Corporate Partner Program at BI fosters valuable, long-term relationships between businesses and our Business School. With Gjensidige's participation, our programs become even more relevant, and our student activities receive much-needed support. In 2024, Gjensidige will be offering one Corporate Scholarship at BI.

Shipowner Tom Wilhelmsen's Foundation has been supporting an Endowed Professorship within Ocean industries since 2005, establishing it as a prominent research area at BI. The generous endowment from Wilhelmsen has not only strengthens BI’s academic environment, but also serves as a catalyst for further advancements in research and education.
For several years, Dagens Næringsliv and BI have been collaborating to bring together business and academia at Arendalsuka. As partners, we have successfully bridged the gap between research and industry and generated meaningful opportunities for dialogue. To mark our 80th anniversary, we will continue to build these vital networks, providing even more platforms to connect research to current issues.
